Airtel Posts Highest-Ever Quarterly Revenue on Higher Tariffs, Data Usage


Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel reported its highest ever quarterly consolidated income on Tuesday, pushed by increased tariffs and an increase in knowledge utilization from a coronavirus-fuelled shift to distant working.

Indian telecom operators, grappling with low tariffs on account of a value struggle that ensued after Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio entered the house, hiked costs final 12 months as they have been ordered to pay Rs. 92,000 crores in dues to the federal government.

That helped the corporate’s quarterly consolidated income rise 22 p.c to Rs. 25,785 crores.

Common income per person at India’s second largest telecom operator rose to Rs. 162 for the quarter, from Rs. 128 a 12 months earlier.

The corporate’s 4G knowledge clients rose by 14.four million to 152.7 million for the quarter ended September 30.

Consolidated loss for the quarter ended September 30 got here in at Rs. 763 crores, in contrast with a lack of Rs. 23,045 crores a 12 months earlier.
